Midwestern Council July Driver School

Blackhawk Farms Raceway

About this event

Midwestern Council of Sports Car Clubs is calling all members, racers, and volunteers!

We will be hosting the July 2024 Midwestern Council Driver's School at Blackhawk Farms Raceway. This school will include sessions for Wheel to Wheel Closed-wheel cars only. (Open-wheel drivers may be interested in our April 2025 school.) You will spend the entire day either on the track or receiving constant feedback from experienced instructors. Wheel to Wheel students will receive an MC (MCSCC) 2024 Novice Competition License upon successful completion and can sign up for the race on Sunday.

The Wheel-to-Wheel Drivers School has two parts.

  1. Classroom
    • A mandatory Online Class and a Test are scheduled for July 17th at 5:30 PM for 2 hours. You must attend and complete the test to be permitted to attend the on-track portion of the school. You will be sent before the class via email (calendar invite) for the online class.
    • This classroom session provides drivers with all the information that they will need the following day to pass the school.
    • This will cover flags, passing, basic cornering techniques, and much more.
  2. On-Track
    • Please be at the track before 7:30 AM on Saturday prepared for a long but rewarding day.

The school fee is $495. A limited number of Track Time Only slots are available at $250.

THE FULL INFORMATION PACKET IS AVAILABLE HERE 2024 DS2 W2W Entry Packet.pdf

  • The MCSCC 2023 Medical form is available here: 2024 Medical Form.pdf and can be uploaded (scan or photo) when you register.

Event requirements

All events at this school require a 2024 Midwestern Council membership.

  • Members, Member Drivers, and Licensed Drivers of other organizations are most welcome to participate in the school but must join the Midwestern Council to participate.
  • New membership is available in the online entry form, or you may contact the MCSCC member club of your choice. Payment is due at the time of registration.

Participants are required to be 14 to 17 years of age with prior racing experience or 18 years of age or older. Minor participants will have a review process to determine if they are eligible. Details can be found in the entry form!

Changes to safety regulations implemented in 2022: Midwestern Council no longer accepts Snell 2010 or older helmets and requires an approved Head and Neck Restraint device (i.e. HANS, NecksGen, etc.). Snell 2015 or newer helmets are required.

This event is sanctioned by the Midwestern Council of Sports Car Clubs and is governed by the MC GCR, available at this link: MCSCC - General Competition Rules

MCSCC does not guarantee that a student will receive a wheel-to-wheel competition license. MCSCC has licensing reciprocity with other racing organizations, because of this, MCSCC considers the licensing standards and requirements of other organizations in addition to its own standards and requirements.

  4. The student has demonstrated composure, a good attitude, and Track Presence.
    • Track Presence is defined here as confidence, awareness, and the overall ability to cope with competition and high-speed driving.

  6. The student has demonstrated high-speed driving competence.
  7. The student has demonstrated the use of Hand Signals.
